I recently discovered just how much I enjoy photo restoration, that is,\u00a0 restoring treasured images of family members.\u00a0\u00a0 I am excited to offer this as a new service in my business.\u00a0 In September 2008 a women approached me and pulled a small wallet sized photo from her wallet.\u00a0 “Can you do anything with this”\u00a0 she ask almost apologetically, “this is a photo of me with my girls, I have had it is my wallet for 13 years. ”\u00a0 I looked at the dis-colored, faded, orange spotted photo of years gone by and ask if I couldn’t create a portrait of her with her daughters now.\u00a0 “No she replied, we want this<\/strong><\/em> photo”.\u00a0 I can do it, I told her, and I took her tiny treasured\u00a0 photo with me.<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n

Faded, discolored, cracked photo to be restored<\/h4>\n

Weeks later I called Joanne to see a 16×20 full sized proof of the restored portrait.\u00a0 She was delighted and she ordered<\/p>\n

three 16×20 portrait canvases, one for her and for each of her girls.\u00a0 Joanne flew to<\/p>\n

New York to deliver her Christmas gifts to her daughters in person.<\/p>\n

There was great excitement and tears at the unveiling of the portrait.<\/h4>\n

It was the treasure of her family she knew it would be.<\/p>\n

George saw my work while displayed at the Athletic Club in town.\u00a0 He decided to commission a portrait of his<\/p>\n

daughter and her year old daughter – both of whom he adores.\u00a0 After seeing the beauty of this portrait,<\/p>\n

he wanted a portrait of his wife.\u00a0 She had not yet consented to have her portrait created at the time<\/p>\n

I had Christmas dinner in their home.\u00a0 At the end of the evening, however, Barb said to me,<\/p>\n

“I don’t have any good image from our wedding 22 years ago.\u00a0 Can you do something with some of the<\/p>\n

images I do have?” I left with their album andthe one 8×10 she had of this very special day.<\/p>\n

After careful scrutiny, I selected the above image<\/p>\n

because I loved her expression and beauty.<\/p>\n

George looked handsome as well.<\/p>\n

The photo was challenging as most photo restorations are<\/h4>\n

This is the final restored photo<\/h4>\n

It was mid January.\u00a0 I called George to view the image on my computer.\u00a0 I suggested that if a woman chose<\/p>\n

to have a wedding portrait as her special portrait after 22 years – perhaps it would be a great Valentine’s Day gift for her.<\/p>\n

George agreed and added that he had proposed to her on Valentine’s Day.\u00a0 I love it when I get it right!\u00a0 He then told<\/p>\n

me of his plan to gather friends at a favorite restaurant on Valentine’s Day and at the appropriate time he would have<\/p>\n

the restored and enhanced portrait presented\u00a0\u00a0 to her.\u00a0 It was a\u00a0 perfect plan.\u00a0 I had the portrait printed,\u00a0 framed and ready for its debut.<\/p>\n

I was in New York for this Holiday but I checked in when I returned.\u00a0 The tears had streamed he told me.<\/p>\n

It was the perfect gift. They were happy and so was I.<\/p>\n

Not all restorations are from old photos<\/h4>\n

This image was taken with a cell phone when Alice traveled to visit her mom.\u00a0 Although the image quality was very poor,<\/p>\n

Alice loved her mom’s expression and decided it was an image she would like to have corrected, enhanced and preserved.<\/p>\n

I loved the idea of restoring a special portrait of Alice’s mom.<\/p>\n
